Webinar on Growing Demand for Ultracapacitor Technology, March 20, 2012

March 12, 2012 By admin

Ioxus, Inc., a manufacturer of ultracapacitor technology, will host a webinar Replacing Lead-Acid Batteries with Ultracapacitor Technology, to be held on March 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. CST. The webinar will detail the market forces contributing to the declining use and production of lead-acid batteries and the rising demand for better energy storage options.

The engineering community is encouraged to attend the webinar, where they will learn:

  • Why the lead-acid battery needs to be replaced;
  • The energy storage needs of applications including wind power production, hybrid drive systems, UPS, and crane and forklift, and the advantages and disadvantages of specific technologies;
  • How ultracapacitor-based systems provide a lower total cost of ownership and other benefits compared to battery-based systems and ultracapacitor system design and maintenance.

Among the other factors driving demand in the ultracapacitor market are the growing popularity of hybrid electric vehicles, which need stop/start batteries that work in all temperatures, and the call to reduce manual intervention for industrial vehicles with hybrid powertrains. Additionally, countries around the globe are strengthening their pollution and emission laws and demanding better fuel economy. For all of these reasons, ultracapacitor use is on the rise across multiple industries.
