The third annual Bio+Tech18 Conference on September 20, 2018 at the Baltimore Hilton

The Maryland Tech Council (MTC) will hold its third annual Bio+Tech18 Conference on September 20, 2018 at the Baltimore Hilton. Bringing together leading companies and organizations from across the Mid-Atlantic region to discuss pressing industry topics, more than 400 life sciences, Health IT and technology professionals are expected to attend.

Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford will kick off the event at 9:00 a.m., followed by an innovating fireside chat that includes Freeman Hrabowski, President, UMBC; Sunil Kumar, Provost, JHU and Jay Perman, President, UMB.

In addition, attendees can hear from over 47 speakers across 12 sessions on topics such as Gene Therapy 2.0, Next Generation Biotherapeutics, Breakthrough Research and Oncology, Cancer Immunotherapeutics, Virtual Reality and Tech Transfer and Commercialization.

“As the life sciences and technology industries continue to advance, the Bio+Tech18 Conference agenda has evolved with relevant tracks on the latest trends in these two integrating sectors,” said Rene LaVigne, Maryland Tech Council Chairman and President and CEO of Iron Bow Technologies. “The content driven from today’s sessions at Bio+Tech18 will provide attendees expert views on the current state and future of Maryland’s vibrant and innovative life sciences and technology ecosystem.”

New this year is the Maryland Tech Council’s inaugural pitch contest that invited early stage life sciences and technology companies to apply. With over 30 applications received, the judges narrowed it down to 5 amazing start-ups to pitch in front of hundreds of stakeholders prior to the cocktail reception, where the winner will be announced and awarded a cash prize.

“The Maryland Department of Commerce is pleased to be part of the Bio+Tech18 Conference and pitch contest,” said Mike Gill, Maryland Commerce Secretary. “Innovation is an important part of our state’s DNA, and this conference will bring together our best and brightest to discuss ways we can build on our progress and make Maryland an even stronger competitor in the tech and life sciences industries.”

The 5 finalists that will be pitching live at the conference include AlgometRx, JuneBrain, Remedy Plan Therapeutics, Sonavex and VakSea.
