ISACA’s North America 2019 CACS Conference: The annual event for information systems audit, assurance, control, governance and security professionals will take place 13-15 May 2019 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA

April 19, 2019 By admin

Panels dedicated to discussing the technologies that have changed how we work and live – and what the future may bring – as well as exploring the professions that have comprised the ISACA community over the last five decades, will help ISACA celebrate its 50th anniversary year at ISACA’s North America 2019 CACS Conference.

A general session panel, “From Disruptive to Daily Dependence: ISACA Pros Look Back and Look Forward to the Future in Technology,” will be moderated by Thomas Phelps IV, VP of corporate strategy and CIO of Laserfiche, and past president of the ISACA Los Angeles Chapter. He is also on the executive boards of Innovate@UCLA and the Southern California Chapter of the Society for Information Management.

“Over the last 50 years, ISACA professionals have had to become adept at digital dexterity—and quickly learn, implement and support new technologies in the business enterprise,” Phelps said. “Whether it’s building IT governance and audit programs or assessing risks with new technologies, we have often spearheaded ways for organizations to embrace innovation. We are continuously helping to ‘future-proof’ today’s businesses by mastering disruptive technologies that create new business models and drive growth in a digital economy.”

The panelists for “From Disruptive to Daily Dependence: ISACA Pros Look Back and Look Forward to the Future in Technology” have diverse experiences in leading enterprises as emerging technologies are adopted:

Kim Bolin, VP, Internal Audit, Workday
Ken Venner, Former CIO, SpaceX
Jedidiah Yueh, Founder and Executive Chairman, Delphix
Additionally, a session panel called “A Spectrum of Professions: The ISACA Global Community, Past, Present, Future” will be moderated by Marios Damianides, Partner, Northeast Region Cybersecurity Leader, Ernst & Young, and Past Board Chair of ISACA. He will pose questions related to the beginning years of the electronic data processing audit profession, as well as what controls and security measures have been used over the last 50 years. The panelists will also look to the future, making predictions for what the future of business IT will look like for professionals: the challenges of continually transforming technologies and what professionals must do to be successful in these changing times.

The panelists for “A Spectrum of Professions: The ISACA Global Community, Past, Present, Future” represent a diverse group of professionals with careers in high-profile roles:

John Hicks, IT Audit Director, The Walt Disney Company;
Dean Kingsley, Principal Advisor, US Media & Entertainment Industry, Deloitte;
Kelly Lin, AVP IT Audit Lead, East West Bank;
Jenai Marinkovic, Chief Technology and Security Officer, Beyond;
Andrew Tinseth, Associate Senior Vice President Audit Services, University of Southern California.
Attendees of North America CACS can earn up to 40 continuing professional education (CPE) hours as they learn solutions and strategies, including how assurance, risk, governance and security professionals can advance their careers and impact their enterprises. This year’s event offers more than 100 sessions in tracks covering data analytics, cybersecurity, information security, governance, risk management, audit and assurance, and industry trends.

Attendees also can participate in pre- and post-conference hands-on workshops on topics such as COBIT 2019, blockchain security and audit, cybersecurity fundamentals and cybersecurity for auditors, IT audit analytics, risk management process development and implementation, and more.

As ISACA celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019 and returns to Southern California, where its first chapter was formed, North America CACS will feature special programming related to the evolution of technology and the profession over the last five decades.
