The 2019 Internet2 Global Summit, March 5–8 2019, Marriott Marquis Washington, DC

February 12, 2019 By admin

Dr. Vinton G. Cerf, vice president and chief internet evangelist at Google, will serve as a featured keynote speaker at the 2019 Internet2 Global Summit event. The talk, entitled “Pacification of Cyberspace,” will take place at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Marriott Marquis Washington DC. Cerf will address how to pacify the relatively lawless environment of the Internet, while preserving the utility of its openness to creative innovation and technological revolution.

Widely known as one of the “Fathers of the Internet,” Cerf is the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and the architecture of the Internet. He has served in executive positions at MCI, the Corporation for National Research Initiatives and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and on the faculty of Stanford University.

“Dr. Vint Cerf is a visionary leader whose contributions to the architecture of the Internet have helped transform the world as we know it,” said Howard Pfeffer, president and CEO of Internet2. “His perspective on the need to address safety, security, privacy, reliability and utility amongst the technical Internet community is a welcome addition to the Global Summit program and we’re pleased he could join us for the event.”

The 2019 Internet2 Global Summit event will convene research and education technology leaders from March 5-8 at the Marriott Marquis Washington DC hotel. It will feature two keynote addresses, presentations from noted subject-matter experts, and sessions focused on trust and identity, advanced networking, information security, and integrated solutions for research, scholarship and creativity. More information can be found on the 2019 Global Summit website.

A live netcast will be available at the event page, https://meetings.internet2.edu/2019-global-summit/detail/10005348/
