A3, the Association for Advancing Automation, holds its International Robot Safety Conference at Huntington Place in Detroit from November 3 to 5. IRSC has run for more than 35 years, and it’s where the people who sign off on robot safety meet: EHS and compliance staff, robotics and controls engineers, plant leaders, robot makers and integrators.
The rulebook changed. ANSI/A3 R15.06-2025 and the updated ISO 10218 reset the baseline for industrial robot safety, and IRSC is where the people applying them compare notes. Sessions run from risk assessment and robot cells to collaborative and mobile robots, functional safety, safety sensors, industrial cybersecurity and OSHA compliance, and AI and humanoids now have their own place on the agenda.
More than 40 speakers come from companies including NVIDIA, Amazon Robotics, Universal Robots, FANUC, SICK and Yaskawa, and more than 16 safety companies take tabletop exhibits. A3 is aiming at automotive, aerospace, logistics, food and beverage, and life sciences.
There are two passes. Full Access covers all three days, and Two-Day Access covers Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday. Both include sessions, meals, the networking reception, exhibits and CEU credits. If you’re putting robots next to people, this is the conference that tells you what the standards now expect.
