Pre-registration quietly opened today for the fourth annual Chiplet Summit, and that timing feels deliberate. Chiplets have crossed the line from clever architectural workaround to default assumption at the leading edge, and the event returning to Santa Clara this February reads less like a conference announcement and more like a checkpoint for an industry that has already committed. The Summit positions itself squarely where theory meets implementation, pulling engineers, toolmakers, IP vendors, and system architects into the same rooms to talk about what actually works when monoliths give way to heterogeneous integration. It’s not framed as a vision conference, but as a working one, which is probably why it keeps growing.

What stands out is how tightly the agenda tracks real engineering friction. Sessions dig into advanced packaging flows, high-bandwidth memory integration, die-to-die interconnects, and the unglamorous but decisive problems of validation, testing, and yield across multi-die systems. Chiplet-based design promises flexibility and scale, but it also explodes the number of interfaces and assumptions engineers have to manage, and that’s where this event earns its relevance. The focus on tools, methods, and platforms suggests an audience that already believes in chiplets and is now wrestling with the second-order consequences: how to design faster, test earlier, and integrate reliably across vendors and process nodes. There’s a practical tone here, almost refreshingly so.

The keynote lineup underlines how mainstream this shift has become. Names like Synopsys, Alphawave Semi, Arm, Cadence, Siemens, and Marvell reflect the reality that chiplets are no longer a niche R&D conversation but a cross-stack coordination problem spanning IP, EDA, packaging, and systems. Add in the UCIe Consortium and the Open Compute Project, and you get a sense that standards, openness, and ecosystem alignment are as central as raw performance. The emphasis on AI, from data center accelerators to edge devices, feels inevitable; chiplets are rapidly becoming the only sane way to balance throughput, power, and latency at scale.

That framing comes through clearly in Chuck Sobey’s remark about 2026 being the year the full impact of chiplets becomes visible. AI accelerators, in particular, stress every dimension of silicon design at once, and chiplets offer a way to evolve architectures without betting the company on a single massive die. It’s a pragmatic philosophy, and one that matches what we’re already seeing across CPUs, GPUs, networking silicon, and custom accelerators. The Summit’s expected crowd of more than 1,500 attendees, alongside exhibits from companies like Teradyne, Keysight, Siemens EDA, and others, reinforces the sense that this isn’t speculative anymore. It’s an operational gathering for an industry that has already chosen its direction and is now busy figuring out how to execute it well, friction by friction, interface by interface.
